100 Anniversary of the magazine “Ukraine”
In January 2007 it will be a 100 Anniversary of the literary-publicistic magazine “Ukraine” which is
one of the oldest editions of our country. The outstanding politician, scientist and public figure
Mykhailo Hrushevsky founded it. This magazine has no competitors. It is unique.
The first issue of the scientific and literary-publisistic monthly magazine “Ukraine” was published in
January 1907. The edition was as the magazine of the democratic intelligentsia directed to the
spiritual rebirth of the Ukrainian nation. In publishing the publicistic-literary magazine took part such
bright figures of the Ukrainian elite as O.Dovzhenko, V.Kasiyan, P.Tychyna, M.Manuyilsky, M.
Derehus, M.Rylsky, E.Paton, U.Smolych, O.Palladin and others. Since the after-war 40th and till the
end of reformation 80th of the past century this magazine was one of the most popular domestic
editions.
In January 2004 a new stage has began for the. Magazine “Ukraine” appeared in a principally new
modern air. Its format, design, structure, thematic contents have. Each issue contains additional
supplement “Ukraine plus Politics” having no counterparts in the way of representing the information
in the country.
Media-project “Ukraine-plus” concept envisages the change to a new quality and enlargement of the
circulation of the monthly magazine; publishing the much-circulation “Ukraine-week”, the supplement
“Ukraine plus Music” and others; renewal of the foreing edition of the magazine, the library of the
magazine “Ukraine” and creating the absolutely new product “Televersion of the magazine Ukraine”.
The revived “Ukraine” is a national monthly magazine called to consolidate the society. The new
network of circulation of the magazine is directed to cover all the regions of our country, CIS
countries, Europe, the USA and Canada.
