Association of Ukrainian Banks
AUB is a nonprofit organization (non-state, independent, voluntary, non-commercial organization), which unites Ukrainian banks and banking associations.
The Association was established with the purpose to facilitate Ukraine’s banking system development, represent of its members’ interests with state management authorities, protect banks’ rights, public relations, relations with foreign banks and their associations. The AUB is the successor of the Association of Commercial and Cooperative Banks of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic.
The Association acts based on the following principles:
- compromise settlement of the issues accounting for all Association members’ interests;
- trust and mutual assistance in relations between the Association’s members;
- voluntary participation of the Association’s members in projects and programs administered according to decisions of the Association Council;
- mandatory execution of the decisions approved by the Congress of the Association;
- self-maintained activities and independence from state structures.
The Association’s main tasks are as follows:
- protection of rights and interests of the banks that are members of the Association, provisions of legal guarantees for their activities;
- facilitation of establishment of the legal basis for banking activities;
- facilitation of carrying-out of anti-monopoly legislative regulations in the banking sphere;
- increasing of the public’s awareness of banks’ activities and their role in Ukraine’s economic life;
- consolidation of mutual trust, reliability, decency, and business partnership in interrelations between banks and clients.
The AUB renders consultations and assistance to the AUB members in all affairs that have to do with Ukrainian banks’ activities, facilitates the work of the Arbitration Court of the Association, and takes the following measures:
- organizes symposia and seminars independently or jointly with the National Bank of Ukraine, exchanges work experience with other organizations, encourages establishment of new business contacts;
- invites bank representatives to participate in the measures conducted by state management authorities with the purpose of development of the national economy and the country’s banking system;
- finds solutions to the problems connected with implementation of the banking legislation, taxation of banks, and antimonopoly activity with central and regional state authorities;
- addresses law-enforcement authorities with the view to protecting of commercial banks’ interests, as well as their employees’ interests.
The AUB maintains and develops business contacts with the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Administration of the President of Ukraine, cooperates with the National Bank of Ukraine on the key directions of the monetary, credit, and taxation policy; participates in working-out of draft instructions, and other normative documents issued by the National Bank of Ukraine, which regulate commercial banks’ activities.
The AUB actively cooperates with mass media, holds press-conferences, and publishes information materials.
The Association is managed by:
the Congress of the Association;
the Council of the Association;
the President of the Association.
Information and analytical center of the AUB - Information and analytical center Bank-Inform
The center is within the structure of the Association of Ukrainian Banks and performs the following functions:
- collects, systematizes, accumulates, and stores banking, financial, and other information for analysis of the banks’ state;
- calculates the main economic parameters of Ukrainian commercial banks’ activities;
- tracks the tendencies in the banking system’s development;
- provides AUB member banks with information and analytical materials;
- prepares economic, financial, banking, and other analytical information for dissemination in the mass media;
- actively cooperates with ministries;
- publishes information about the changes in banks’ activities on the AUB’s web-page (www.aub.com.ua) on the monthly basis.
