Ministry of foreign affairs of Ukraine
Ministry of foreign affairs of Ukraine is a central executive body of Ukraine that promotes foreign policy of the state and coordinates activities in the field of foreign relations in the frames of its competence, as stated by the Decree of the President of Ukraine “On Provisions on the Ministry of foreign affairs of Ukraine” as of April 3, 1999.
The following are main tasks of the Ministry of foreign affairs pursuant to the Ordinance:
- Participation in securing of national interests and security of Ukraine through support of peaceful and mutually beneficial cooperation with members of the international community;
- Assisting in securing of stability of Ukraine’s international position, increase of international authority, promotion of the image of Ukraine as a reliable and predictable partner in the world;
- Creation of favorable external conditions for strengthening of independence, state sovereignty, economic self-government, and preservation of Ukraine’s territorial integrity;
- Securing of integrity and conformity of Ukraine’s foreign policy course in accordance with given powers;
- Protection of rights and interests of individuals and business entities of Ukraine abroad; and
- Promotion of development of relations with foreign Ukrainian communities and providing of support and protection to these communities in accordance with norms of international law and legislation of Ukraine in force.
