On November 18-19, 2004 Prof. Mykhaylo Zgurovsky, Rector of the National Technical University of
Ukraine “Kyiv Politechnical Institute” and HE Dr. Oleksandr Horin, Ambassador of Ukraine to Brunei
Darussalam (with residence in Singapore) have visited Brunei.
In course of the visit Professor Zgurovsky had a meeting with Dr. Haji Ismail bin Duraman Vice
Chancellor of University of Brunei Darussalam to discuss the ways of enhancing the cooperation
between the two universities.
The Sides have laid down the legal basis of their future cooperation by signing Memorandum of
Understanding between NTUU “KPI” and UBD to facilitate closer collaboration in different academic
areas such as the exchange of students and faculty members, joint research and teaching program
development and exchange of publications.
Professor Zgurovsky has also made presentations on scientific projects focusing on micro satellites and
"unmanned aerial vehicles" (UAVs), followed by a Q&A session.
NTUU 'KPI' is one of the oldest and best technical universities in Europe and the world. It was
established in 1898 and currently has around 38,800 students and postgraduates including more than
1,000 foreign students studying science and engineering courses.
UBD has over the years signed over 20 MoUs with foreign universities such as The University of
Auckland, Curtin University of Technology, North Carolina State University, University of Glasgow, and
University of Malaya, to name a few.
