H.E. Mr. Petro POROSHENKO, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, made a working visit to the
Republic of Singapore on 20 January 2010.
During the visit H.E. Mr. Petro Poroshenko held talks with H.E. Mr. George Yeo, the Minister for
Foreign Affairs of Singapore.
Ministers discussed prospects of bilateral political dialogue, as well as a number of issues of
Ukrainian-Singapore cooperation in trade and economic spheres, including the attraction of
Singapore investments for infrastructure projects, bilateral scientific-technical and military-technical
cooperation.
Ministers noted the progress in free trade agreement negotiations between Ukraine and Singapore.
A special attention was paid to the interaction in the sphere of piracy combating.
During the discussion on cooperation within international organizations Ukrainian Foreign Minister
appealed to the Singaporean side to render support to Ukraine during the elections of
non-permanent members of UN Security Council for the period 2016-2017.
H.E. Mr. Petro Poroshenko invited his Singapore counterpart to visit Ukraine in 2010.
The Minister also conveyed the invitation to visit Ukraine to Mr. Lee Kuan Yew, Singapore's Minister
Mentor.
During his visit Ukrainian Minister had a meeting with Mr. Eric Tan, Commissioner of the Immigration
and Checkpoints Authority of Singapore. The Ukrainian Side was briefed on the ICA activities in the
context of possible use of Singapore experience in the building of reliable migration management.
Mr. Petro Poroshenko also visited "SingSpring Desalination Plant", where he was demonstrated the
advanced technologies of water purification.
During the meeting with Ms Olivia Lum, Group CEO, President and Managing Director, "Hyflux Ltd.",
the Parties discussed possible cooperation and joint Ukrainian-Singapore projects in the sphere of
water management.

Ukraine's president-elect Viktor Yanukovych has taken the
oath in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Thursday, February
25.
He has taken the President of Ukraine office from now on.
Yanukovych has been also given the official credentials of
the President of Ukraine: the presidential badge, the seal
and the mace.

Mr. Vsevolod Mytsyk, Charge d'Affaires a.i., Embassy of Ukraine, had a meeting with Mr. Lawrence
Anderson, Director, Europe Directorate, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore on 19 February
2010.
During the meeting an invitation to take part in the solemn events on the occasion of the accession
to the Office of H.E. Mr. Viktor Yanukovych, the newly-elected President of Ukraine, as the Head of
the Ukrainian State, was delivered to the Singapore Side.
Mr. Lawrence Anderson expressed appreciation with the mentioned invitation and informed that Mr.
Simon De Cruz, Ambassador of Singapore to the Russian Federation (and to Ukraine with the
residence in Moscow) will take part in the inauguration events.
